The 74th anniversary of the foundation of the glorious Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the homeland of Juche. It has been decided that the Organizing Committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt. Paektu (OCIFPGPP) will organize an online seminar to mark the event, aimed at DPRK friendship and solidarity organizations in Europe but it will be open to friends of People’s Korea in other parts of the world. We appreciate the Korean Friendship Association of the UK cooperation with the OCIFPGPP and the DPRK Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries to be host an online seminar with the title of ‘74 years of Progress and Prosperity Under the Banner of the Juche Idea ‘Kim Il Sung and the Banner of Independence '

Really the 74th is the more significant of Founding Anniversary of DPRK to challenge the unhuman arrogance of World Imperialist allies, Militarily DPRK is now a competent to face any barbarous provocacy of Imperialist warmongering. The unity of people and army is based on the banner of Juche Idea and it is more strongest with the theme of Kim Il Sung and banner of Independence. Apparently the ‘74 Years of Progress and Prosperity under the Banner of the Juche Idea’ is a victorious and popular masses’ Dignity to overcame unlawfully sanctions against DPRK. Basically peace loving peoples of world always support DPRK stand against warmonger, Devastator. It will be continuing up to Peoples win. 

 President Kim Il Sung, upholding the banner of independence, rendered immortalservices to the times and history. Having embarked on the road of struggle for the country and people in his early teens, he authored the Juche idea, the gist of which is that the masses of the people are the masters and the driving force of the revolution and construction; in other words, it means that man is the master of his own destiny and has the strength with which to carve out his destiny.

 Since then the Korean revolution has vigorously advanced along the road of independence.

 In the period of the armed struggle to liberate Korea from the Japanese military occupation, he ensured that the guerrillas kept the strong conviction that they should fight the Japanese by making themselves weapons and grenades instead of looking forward to aids from others. 

The guerrillas waged the arduous armed struggle for over 15 years, holding high the slogan of winning back the country by themselves, and achieved the country’s liberation. 

After liberation he made sure that Korea took the road of Korean-style democracy, not adopting other countries’ styles, and vigorously led the struggle to reunify the country divided by foreign forces. In the grim days of the Korean War (1950-1953) to repel the aggression of the United States he ensured that the service personnel of the Korean People’s Army employed unique tactical methods such as building tunnels and bringing direct-firing guns up to the heights, thus winning victory in the war. After the war he put forward a unique line of economic construction to give priority to the development of heavy industry and simultaneously develop light industry and agriculture, and led his people to get rid of flunkeyism and dogmatism and take the road of independence. 

When other socialist countries persistently forced Korea to join the CMEA, insisting on the “integrated economy” within them, he never vacillated in the slightest nor deviated an iota from the line of building the independent national economy. In the mid-1980s the trend of “reform” and “openness” was sweeping the socialist countries, but he firmly maintained the independent stand and held up higher the red flag, thus defending the socialist system of Korea reliably even though others abandoned socialism.

 Kim Il Sung paid great attention to realize the cause of making the world independent throughout his life. 

He gave clear answers to the matters of principle arising in realizing the cause of global independence such as those on maintaining independence in the struggle for peace and fighting against the imperialist forces of aggression with the united efforts of all the peace-loving forces of the world, and on struggling while uniting and vice versa. When Francois Mitterrand, head of the French Socialist Party, visited Korea in February 1981, Kim Il Sung said to him that in order to prevent a new world war, the European countries should not be aligned with any blocs but make themselves independent and neutral, and that they should help the newly-emerging countries to firmly maintain their independence and build theirs into independent, sovereign states. 

When he met Utsunomiya Tokuma, Japanese politician, he told him that the global peace would be surely maintained only when all the countries of the world, including European and Asian countries as well as Japan became independent and that it was his ideal for peace. 

Kim Il Sung assisted heart and soul other countries in accomplishing their cause of anti-imperialist independence.

 Already in the period of anti-Japanese armed struggle for Korea’s liberation he actively assisted the Chinese revolution and defended the former Soviet Union with arms. After liberation he also gave unstinted assistance to the countries and nations in their struggle against imperialism. The support and assistance given by him to the Algerian people who launched an armed struggle for the national liberation in Africa, known as the Dark Continent and the continent of colonies, wrote a brilliant page in the world history of national liberation struggle. When the Algerian patriots, encouraged by the victory of the Korean people in the Korean war, waged an armed struggle after forming the National Liberation Front in August 1954, he sent them food and other materials and set the day and the week of Algeria so as to express solidarity with them in their struggle. When the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic was established in September 1958, he saw that the DPRK was the first country to acknowledge it and establish diplomatic relations with it.

 He also gave energetic and disinterested support and aid to the peoples of Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Namibia in their struggle against colonialism and racism, the Latin American peoples’ struggle against the US imperialists and proUS dictatorship, Arabians’ struggle against the US imperialists and Israeli Zionists, as well as the Cuban, Vietnamese, Laotian and Cambodian peoples’ struggle against the aggression of the US imperialists, thus greatly inspiring them to bring about historic victories. 

The banner of independence upheld by President Kim Il Sung is a great power of strength and encouragement to the Korean people who are achieving eye-opening successes in the socialist construction with a firm stand of independence and also to the progressive peoples of the world who are struggling for the realization of global independence. 

“Have you ever heard about a country in which people are worshipped as the God? I have witnessed such a surprising reality.”–this is what a European figure said to journalists after visiting the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994), founding father of socialist Korea, believed in his people as in heaven. In his memoirs With the Century, he wrote: “The people are my God” has been myconstant view and motto. The principle of Juche, which calls for drawing on the strength of the masses who are the masters of the revolution and construction, is my political creed. This has been the axiom that has led me to devote my whole life to the people. 

He regarded the masses of the people as omnipotent beings possessed of inexhaustible strength and wisdom, and raised their position and role in historical development to the highest level. Thus the Korean people, once subjected to humiliation and contempt, have enjoyed due respect as dignified citizens of the DPRK. 

The word “people” was included in the names of the country and the army, as well as in the names of such monumental structures as the Grand People’s Study House, People’s Palace of Culture, People’s Theatre, People’s Open-air Ice Rink and Rungna People’s Recreation Ground. This word is not an abstract concept or a mere symbol. It refers to the masses of the people who are leading a dignified life in socialist Korea. All the lines and policies pursued by the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea and the government are for the good of the people and everything serves them. Examples are the Agrarian Reform Law and the Law on Sexual Equality promulgated in 1946, the universal free medical care system established in the days of the Korean war (1950-1953), the universal free education system established in 1959, the universal 11-year compulsory education system in 1975 and the universal 12-year compulsory education system which is now in force. Thanks to these policies, Korean society has been developed into one in which the people’s human rights are fully guaranteed and they live happily without cause for envy. 

Chairman Kim Jong Il (1942-2011) carried forward this ennobling idea of President Kim Il Sung and its validity has been proved by the history of modern Korea. 

True to his predecessors’ intentions, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visits wherever the people live, including factories, farms, fishing villages, scientific research institutes, construction sites, schools, kindergartens, baby homes, orphanages and rest homes. His speech delivered at the military parade and public procession of the Pyongyang citizens held in caused a worldwide sensation, as the word “people” was repeated many times from beginning to end. According to a media report, the word was repeated 97 times in this 25-minute speech. 

He would often say: I will pluck a star from the heavens if it is the wishes of the people; there cannot be satisfaction in the work for the people; we must work with devotion for the people untilour shoes are worn out. 

Under his wise leadership, the DPRK is making a leap forward in all spheres of social life. The people’s living standards are steadily improving as they increase production in all economic sectors by giving full play to the spirit of self-reliance and self-development. They have ushered in a heyday of construction: light-industry factories and commercial service organs are being built or renovated, and monumental structures like the Masikryong Ski Resort, Munsu Water Park, Mirae Scientists Street and Ryomyong Street have sprung up in many parts of the country. 

The Korean people’s beautiful dreams and ideals will surely come true under this benevolent social system.

 Korean People’s Army is armed with world-class military equipment and all the armed forces of the country have been well prepared to defeat any foreign invasion. Military experts and analysts around the world agree on this point. This remarkable development is inconceivable apart from Kim Jong Un’s leadership. The major traits of a renowned general are wisdom, courage and benevolence. Kim Jong Un is widely known for his outstanding strategy, wisdom and acumen. The essential factor in winning victory is a commander’s wisdom, not military equipment or the number of soldiers. In recent years, thanks to Kim Jong Un’s outstanding strategy and adroit tactics, the DPRK could overcome critical situations and win in the confrontations with hostile forces. This is illustrated by the fact that an atmosphere for dialogue and negotiations now prevails on the Korean peninsula, which was one of the hottest spots. Tougher countermeasure, unpredictable response, one-blow knockout, and winning victory without firing a shot–these are the key tactics employed by the DPRK leader. Kim Jong Un is also noted for his unrivalled courage. 

Though possessed of outstanding wisdom, a commander cannot be successful if he lacks courage. Recently the hostile forces resorted to vicious schemes in trying to stifle this country both in military and economic aspects. Despite the touch-and-go situation, Kim Jong Un saw an artistic performance with the People and arranged a national conference of pilots in the capital city of Pyongyang. 

Also, he visited light-industry factories with a view to improving the people’s standard of Living. At Panmunjom on the Military Demarcation Line he had a photo taken with all The soldiers including sentries. Kim Jong Un is respected as a leader who loves his people and leads the army by dint of ennobling virtue. Soldiers act according to orders and they are obliged to keep military discipline. But they are human beings after all. Kim Jong Un regards soldiers as his comrades sharing will and destiny with him. He visits army units even in remote mountains or on far-flung islands, taking necessary measures for improving the living conditions of the soldiers with parental affection. He mingles with them unreservedly, sometimes having a photo taken with each one of them. There are many moving stories about his affection; when some sailors fell during the performance of combat duty, he took all necessary steps to add lustre to their exploits; and hearing of a pilot’s death, he wrote a letter to his wife to console her. It is quite natural that all the officers and men of the army respect their Supreme Commander sincerely and are full of determination to dedicate their lives for his sake. There will be no match for this army that has formed an integral whole based on affection and obligation. The world media and the international society speak highly of the DPRK leader, calling him “young leader possessed of outstanding wisdom and adroit tactics,” “statesman and commander with foresight and courage,” and “benevolent General.”
